Andreas Ney was born in 1702 at Palatinate, Germany. He married Selli Roos circa 1740. Andreas Ney died circa 1751.
Andreas Ney is also known as Andreas Nay, arrived in the Port of Philadelphia on September 29, 1733. With him were his wife, Maria Elizabeth, and children, Anna Barbara, age 7, and Hans (John) Michel, age 3 1/2. They arrived on the ship Pink Mary from Rotterdam, Holland by way of Plymouth, England. His origin was listed as the Palatinate. It is likely that in Germany his name was Neu. He settled in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. Little is known of his subsequent life. Church records which might lend proof to our assumptions have not been found, if they even exist. However, circumstantial evidence strongly indicates that he had more children and that Maria Elizabeth perished and Andreas remarried Selli Roos or Sara Ross. Andreas died about 1751. Selli remarried February 2,1752 to Leur Kuykendal (widower of Lena Gonzalez) and moved to Washington Co., Pennsylvania. Andreas Ney was also known as Andreas Nay.

Andrew Ross Nye was born on 6 January 1750 at Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He married Catherine Eleanor Burns before 1775. Andrew Ross Nye married Rachel McDonald before 1780. Andrew Ross Nye died on 1 March 1821 at North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, at age 71. He was buried after 1 March 1821 at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; I have picture of grave marker.
Andrew Ross Nye is first noted in western Pennsylvania during the time of the Revolution when southwestern Pennsylvania was claimed by the state of Virginia. The area of Westmoreland County to the southwest was called Yogohania County, Virginia. Andrew is referred to in court records of that county in real estate transactions and approved as 'a proper person as Lieutenant of Militia'. This county existed in Virginia records only from 1776 to 1786. During this same period Pennsylvania also claimed the area so that Andrew is also shown paying taxes in Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1781 and later in 1791 in Alleghany County after this county was formed from Washington County. Andrew Nye was the first white man, or one of the first, to settle in the region of Pennsylvania near the bank of the Connoquenessing River. He received a patent for 400 acres in what is now Ellwood City, Pennsylvania and built a log house there in 1793. He married (1st) Catherine Eleanor Burns; (2nd) Rachel McDonald, born November 10, 1760; died December 16,1847. Andrew died March 1, 1821 in N. Sewickley Twp., Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The last will and testament of Andrew Ross Nye. 'I give and devise unto my dear wife, Rachel, the one-third of all my real and personal estate to have and to hold during her natural life, and touching all the rest, residue and remainder of my unencumbered estate real and personal, of what kind or nature soever, the same may be in the County of Beaver aforesaid or elsewhere, I give and devise the same in the following manner, to wit: I give and devise unto my three dear sons, Jordan Nye, Andrew Nye Jr., and Thomas Nye all my real and personal estate after the following sums are paid out, unto my dear children, namely: Sarah Deemer I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid out of my estate, to my dear daughter, Nelly Tate, and unto Catherine Jones, my dear daughter, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid out of my estate, and unto my dear daughter Nancy Main, the sum of two hundred dollars out of my estate, and unto my dear daughter Hannah Metheny, two hundred dollars out of estate, and unto Susannah Main, two hundred dollars out of my estate.'

Eight children are living at home. He appeared on the census of 21 August 1860 at Page 275, Wayne Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; is age 58, married to Eliza and he is farming. Eight children including John, age 25, are living with them. This is the age of Nathaniel, and Nathaniel is not listed. Susannah 'Susan' Nye was born on 27 February 1795 at Wayne Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. She married Solomon Main, son of Philip Main and Clarianne 'Clory Ann' Rough, before 1816 at Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; One source has Solomon and Susannah's year of marriage 1828. If that is true, then Solomon must have been married before, given the birthdays of his first few children. Susannah 'Susan' Nye died on 8 July 1851 at Honey Creek, Pike County, Illinois, at age 56. She was buried after 8 July 1851 at Petty Highland Cemetery, Time (east of), Pike County, Illinois.
