     Andrew Nye was born on 6 June 1750 at Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. He married Rachel McDonald, daughter of John McDonald, before 1780. Andrew Nye died on 1 March 1821 at North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, at age 70.

     John Main was born on 11 July 1816 at Jackson County, Ohio. He died in 1849.
     John Main never married.

     Andrew Main was born on 6 August 1817 at Jackson County, Ohio. He married Lutilia Johnson on 27 September 1838 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. Andrew Main died on 5 March 1897 at age 79. He was buried after 5 March 1897 at Petty Highland Cemetery, Martinsburg Township - east of Time, Pike County, Illinois; I have picture of grave marker.
     Andrew Main is mentioned in "1880 Pike County History" (Quote): Andrew Main, farmer and stock-raiser, sec. 5, was born in Jackson Co., O., Aug. 6, 1817, and is a son of Solomon and Susan Main, so well known in the early settlement of this county, who came here in 1828. He loaned his gun to a friend to use in the Black Hawk war, which, at the close of the war, was returned, and he was also a soldier in that war. Andrew Main was educated in a log house with slab seats, greased paper for windows, and a large fire-place in one end. Mr. M. used to go to a horse-mill on horseback, and in the earlier part of their pioneer life he ground corn in a hand-mill; he hunted with the Indians and killed deer with them. Sept. 28, 1838, he married Lutilia Johnson, and they have had 15 children, 9 of whom are living; their names are Alvin, Andrew P., Colonel, Philip, George, William, Thomas, Jane and Minerva. He appeared on the census of 26 August 1860 at Page 27, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 43, married to Lutilla, and he is farming. Nine children are with them. They are living next to Solomon, Andrew's father. He appeared on the census of 7 June 1880 at S.D.6; E.D.187; Page 17, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 62 and farming. Lutilia is listed as Matilda age 51. Three of their children and an aunt Catherine Johnston age 77 are all living with them.

     David Main was born on 3 September 1819 at Ohio. He married Susan Troutner, daughter of John Troutner Sr. and Elizabeth Heth, on 27 January 1842 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license.
     David Main appeared on the census of 23 October 1850 at Dwelling 1067, Township 6S 2W, Pike County, Illinois; is age 31, married to Susan and he is working as a teamster. They have 4 children. He appeared on the census of 26 August 1860 at Page 20, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 39, married to Susan and he is farming. Seven children are with them. He appeared on the census of 21 July 1870 at Page 2, Dwelling 10, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 45, married to Susan and he is farming. The information on this census can be confusing. It gives Maine as the birth place of both David and Susan and David's age is obviously incorrect. He appeared on the census of 5 June 1880 at S.D.6; E.D.187; Page 14, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 67, married to Susan, and he is farming. Three children are with them. Susan's mother, Elizabeth, is with them.

     William Main was born on 11 March 1821 at Jackson County, Ohio. He married Permelia E. Barney, daughter of Lydia (?), on 21 October 1849 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. William Main died on 4 December 1896 at Boonville, Mendocino County, California, at age 75. He was buried after 4 December 1896 at Philo - north of, Mendocino County, California; has an unmarked grave.
     William Main was employed in Lumber and Mining. He was a veteran of the Mexican War. He appeared on the census of 14 August 1850 at (138), Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; is age 28. Permelia is 16. He appeared on the census of 1 November 1850 at Dwelling 1104, Township 7 S 4 W, Pike County, Illinois; is age 25, married to Permelia. They are living with Permelia's parents. We find Permelia and William in 2 censuses a few months apart. He appeared on the census of 26 August 1860 at Page 25; Household 183, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 39, Permelia is 26. They have 6 children with them. William is farming. He appeared on the census of 15 July 1870 at Page 5; Dwelling 46, Hamilton Township, Butte County, California; is age 51. Hugh, John and James are living with him. Nancy and Robert are living next door. He appeared on the census of 14 June 1880 at S.D. 3; E.D. 66; Page 13 D, Anderson Township, Mendocino County, California; is age 63. He, James and Daniel are living with Elizabeth and Matthew Tescher.

     Rachel Main was born on 10 September 1823 at Jackson County, Ohio. She married William A. Watson on 26 October 1843 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. Rachel Main married John Hack before 1870. Rachel Main died before 1900.
     Rachel Main appeared on the census of 12 November 1850 at Dwelling 1395, Town 6S 3W, Pike County, Illinois; is age 26, living with her parents. She has 2 year old Lodema.

     Anna Main was born on 20 January 1825 at Jackson County, Ohio. She married DeWitt C. St John on 26 October 1848 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. Anna Main married Daniel R. Barry on 14 October 1855 at Pike County, Illinois; was found in Book I, Page 219.

     Nancy Main was born on 29 September 1826 at Pike County, Illinois. She died on 8 July 1851 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, at age 24; died of Cholera.

     Nicholas Main was born on 4 March 1828 at Jackson County, Ohio. He married Sarah Jane Troutner, daughter of John Troutner Sr. and Elizabeth Heth, on 24 December 1854 at Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. Nicholas Main died in 1889. He was buried in 1889 at Time Cemetery, Hardin Township - Time Village, Pike County, Illinois; I have picture of grave marker.
     Nicholas Main was was a Veteran of the Mexican War.

     Mary Main appeared on the census of 7 June 1880 at S.D.6; E.D.187; Page 17, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 49, widowed and has 4 children living with her. Her son Charles is working as a Teamster. She appeared on the census of 22 April 1910 at S.D.11; E.D.131; Sheet 4 A, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 78, widowed, and is not working. She is with her daughter Ellen Watson, and her family.

     Elizabeth Main was born on 5 June 1833 at Pike County, Illinois. She married John W. Troutner on 29 March 1863 at Pike County, Illinois. Elizabeth Main died on 25 February 1916 at age 82. She was buried after 25 February 1916 at Watson Cemetery, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois.

     Susannah Main was born on 17 February 1835 at Pike County, Illinois. She married Joseph A. 'Joe' Johnston, son of Thomas Johnston and Katherine Main, on 10 October 1861 at Pike County, Illinois. Susannah Main died in 1900 at Arkansas. She was buried in 1900 at Goodloe Cemetery, Quitman - north of, Cleburne County, Arkansas.

     Hannah Main was born on 5 May 1840 at Pike County, Illinois. She died on 19 October 1918 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, at age 78; fractured her hip August 21, 1918.
She died at 2 a. m; fractured hip, bronchitis and old age. She was buried on 20 October 1918 at Petty Highland Cemetery, Martinsburg Township - east of Time, Pike County, Illinois.
     Hannah Main appeared on the census of 10 June 1880 at S.D.6; E.D. 195; Page 43, Pittsfield Township, Pike County, Illinois; is age 39, and is keeping house. Her daughter Della, is with her. She appeared on the census of 1 June 1900 at S.D.10, E.D.126; Sheet 1 A, Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; is age 60, with birthday as May 1840. She is listed as widowed, having had 1 child and it is living. Hannah is doing washing for a living. She lives not far from her daughter Della Troutner.

     Jane Main was born on 19 December 1838 at Pike County, Illinois. She married William Walker on 6 October 1861.

     Lutilia Johnson was born on 27 April 1823. She married Andrew Main, son of Solomon Main and Susannah Nye, on 27 September 1838 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. Lutilia Johnson died on 9 August 1892 at age 69. She was buried after 9 August 1892 at Petty Highland Cemetery, Martinsburg Township - east of Time, Pike County, Illinois; I have picture of grave marker.

     Susan Troutner was born in 1826 at Ohio. She married David Main, son of Solomon Main and Susannah Nye, on 27 January 1842 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license.

     William A. Watson was born on 19 October 1824. He married Rachel Main, daughter of Solomon Main and Susannah Nye, on 26 October 1843 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. William A. Watson died on 23 April 1848 at age 23. He was buried after 23 April 1848 at Watson Cemetery, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois.

     DeWitt C. St John was born circa 1826 at New York. He married Anna Main, daughter of Solomon Main and Susannah Nye, on 26 October 1848 at Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. DeWitt C. St John died circa 1852.
     DeWitt C. St John is found in "1880 Pike County History" on page 239.

ASIATIC CHOLERA - While this scourge wrought great devastation in some sections of the United States in 1848-'9, Pike county almost escaped its ravages. In and about Pittsfield Dr. Comstock, DeWitt St. John, David Ober and wife, Mr. Main, Alvin Hash's wife and several strangers died, and at Kinderhook there were 15 or 20 cases of the disease. It seemed to have got out into the county from Louisiana, whither it had been brought by steamers from the lower Mississippi.

     David C. Troutner was born circa 1833 at Pickaway County, Ohio. He married Sarah 'Sally' Main, daughter of Solomon Main and Susannah Nye, on 13 November 1853 at Pike County, Illinois; I have copy of marriage license. David C. Troutner died on 6 April 1862 at Tennessee; was a 2nd Lieutenant killed at Shiloh.

     John August Nelson was born on 18 September 1915 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. He married Ethel Evelyn Main, daughter of Melvin Philip 'Mel' Main and Myrtle May Shipman, on 10 October 1935 at Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri. John August Nelson died on 10 January 1986 at Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, at age 70.
     John August Nelson was a farmer.

     Ethel Evelyn Main was born on 15 July 1912 at Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. She married John August Nelson, son of William August Nelson and Hazel Fountain, on 10 October 1935 at Kahoka, Clark County, Missouri. Ethel Evelyn Main died on 7 December 2003 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa, at age 91.

     William August Nelson was born on 27 February 1889 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. He married Hazel Fountain on 28 March 1914. William August Nelson died on 6 March 1972 at Longmont, Boulder County, Colorado, at age 83. He was buried on 10 March 1972 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa; Gravestone located in Lot 24, Block 30, Oakland Cemetery.

     Hazel Fountain was born on 12 October 1893 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. She married William August Nelson on 28 March 1914. Hazel Fountain died on 21 August 1921 at Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa, at age 27. She was buried after 21 August 1921 at Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa; Gravestone located in Lot 24, Blk 30.

     Myrtle May Shipman was born on 7 May 1876 at Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. She married John Adam Fisher on 6 November 1895 at Louisa County, Iowa. Myrtle May Shipman married Melvin Philip 'Mel' Main, son of Melvin Philip Main and Rachel Troutner, on 1 August 1907 at Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa. Myrtle May Shipman died on 11 March 1960 at Lone Tree, Johnson County, Iowa, at age 83. She was buried after 11 March 1960 at Wapello Cemetery, Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa; I have picture of double marker with Melvin.

     Beulah Jessie Fisher was born on 30 April 1901. She married Albert Johnson on 16 November 1921. Beulah Jessie Fisher died on 26 April 1973 at age 71. She was buried after 26 April 1973 at Wapello, Louisa County, Iowa.
